My story
I think it's weird to write about yourself, so I asked Damian Carruthers to write about me after his interview.

If you're going to choose a band to take inspiration from at the beginning of your musical journey, then it would be hard to find a better band than The Beatles - and this is precisely how David Chutby's musical story began....
What started out as a child like awe, for arguably one of the greatest ever bands, developed into a lifelong obsession with music. David Chutby first held that magical vinyl in his hands when he was 9 years old. It created a memory that would stay with David all his life. The way the vinyl looked, the way it felt when he held it in his hands, the way in which the light reflected from the circular grooves, and, most importantly, the mesmerising sound it created when he placed it on the record player, dropped the needle and waited patiently as the record crackled to life.
To this day, those opening lines on the album - "When I was younger" are a constant lyrical reminder to David of the beautiful feeling that music brought to him as a child. From the very first moment David heard that first song, he knew that he wanted to dedicate his life to music.
Not long after David found the love of his life, he got his first guitar, with the grand ambition of following in John Lennons footsteps and creating music of his own.
At age 14, David wrote his first song and began playing in bands. Fuelled by bands such as Queen, U2 and The Police, and driven by a burning desire to create music, David spent the majority of his teens playing in bands. The music was a form of escapism. David could lose himself for hours at a time in the music he played. Every chord and every melodic vocal note that David unleashed, he found himself drifting further and further into another world. A world full of magic, full of passion and full of wonder. Music was the only vice, the only escape, and, finally, the only medicine that David needed. It was as if music itself coursed through David's veins, it burned his heart and it sang through his soul.

Sadly, as most of us find as we get older, life is not always plain sailing. Whilst there was never any vicious break up or falling out with music, life happened. Whilst David took a hiatus from music, his creative juices continued to flow. By butting up his own advertising agency and being a creative director, David was able to feed his creative passion just enough to keep the musical hunger at bay. David threw himself into his business and discovered that his talents went way beyond music, and the new skills he was learning each, and every day would prove to be an extremely useful tool for navigating his way through life. Davids love for music was replaced with a love for a family.

But, as with most stories, David was about to find out that no matter how hard you try, you can never escape your own destiny. It is like a gentle whisper in your ear, a fire slowly burning in your soul, which, although can fade away, can never be put out. Eventually, that fire will leap from the glowing ashes and demand to be fed.
Now at age 52, David could contain the furnace no more and knew that he had to feed that creative burning sensation before it consumed him completely.
David sold his shares in his company, picked up his guitar, and began writing again. With a renewed desire to create, an alternative life time full of unique and wonderful experiences to call upon for inspiration, and last, but not least, a driving and pulsating sense of purpose to go and make a difference to the world with his art, David finally embraced his destiny and stepped both feet firmly back on the musical footpath that he had begun walking all those years ago.
David's experiences in life have taught him that nobody else is going to make your dreams come true, you have to go out and make your own dreams come to life.
As we witness one chapter in Davids life come to a close, the next part of the story looks set to be full of excitement, creativity and adventure.
David is a firm believer that it is never too late to achieve your goals and follow your dreams. Whilst that may seem easy to say, to go out and actually do it is something completely different, yet, this is exactly what David intends to do. With his musical passion firmly reignited, a life time of experience and new skills brought into his music, David wants to not only prove to himself that it's not too late, but to also inspire others to pursue their dreams and ambitions, not just within music, but within any industry they happen to be in.
Strap yourself in and brace yourself. As with all musical biopics, when you finally embrace your destiny, you know it's going to be a wild ride!
